Haha, though that's not necessarily a bad thing.

      And thanks

Also, new piece. I really like the colors and effects, but the contrast could be fixed a bit. Still planning on text and border, but any other suggestions?

Pieces of his arm are missing o.O.

The colors are the best part, but the background needs some work. It's veeeeery messy. Make it a little smoother and then add a sparkly fractal.

Im not actually fond of the colors. The disadvantage of smudging is that they dont suit darker themed concepts well since you cant see the smudges there properly.
If you wanna stick to this , I would suggest you to add a bright in between the stock and the BG emerging from the bottom. Make the borders white and just bars at the top and bottom.

Text can be placed near the lower left dark potion.

Oops  That's some bad blending/smudging, for ya. Will definitely fix the arm issue.

As for the background, I sorta like it, but I can see what you're saying. I'll see if I can't smooth it out a bit.

I wasn't really going for the smudged look like I had been doing recently. Also, a bright what? Your sentence sorta jumped the important bit

      EDIT:

      This any better?

Nice text! And it does look better.

I have a silly question for you, and the answer totally doesn't matter, but I'm curious XD. Did you extract that stock, or was it on a background that was all white, so you deleted all the white and then colored everything under the stock white? That's what I do when I'm too lazy to render, and I never have the patience to color in hands. I can see that in your sig the hand is a different color from the rest of his body, as if it's the only part that doesn't have white under it.

I'm just curious to see if you discovered the same method I use to circumvent extracting stock.

Grace : . Why not just adjust the contrast to differentiate the borders in a duplicate layer and then select that and delete it from the original. No cheating and a precise cut.

Rishi : I meant light source after bright . My keyboard is kinda slow to input my typing speed

      Thanks.

As for the stock bit, it was as it looks in the link I posted- all white BG. I basically just used the Fuzzy Select Tool/Magic Wand/whatever you want to call it to get as close of a cut to the stock that I could without accidentally taking out a portion of an arm or something, then refined it a bit more by using the Free Select Tool to further remove any rogue white bits. Anything that managed to get by those was just smudged or blurred to be less noticeable. As for the hand being a different color, I think that's just a matter of how the original stock was shaded- it looks that same color in the original.

I don't know what this means, but I'm sure if you explain how to do it, it'll be brilliant and I'll be endlessly grateful and I'll never know how I ever survived without you.

Re: Ririshii's GFX Stuffs [Revamped and Ready to Update]

Okay this should be beneficial to you both :

1)Keep the original stock what you want to cut on the bottom layer
2)Duplicate this layer and keep it on top of the original layer
3)With the duplicate layer selected , go to Image->adjustments->brightness/contrast/curves (There are many image based options here , so the more you use them , the more precise you'll get your cutout , secondly it maybe different in GIMP or any other software. My aim is to modify the contrasts and lighting in order to keep my selection more precise to the color ranges. See if you have dark stock and a plain white BG , its so easy to cut it out right. Why ? Because you can directly select the white area and automatically it only selects all the white areas leaving the contrasting dark stock out of the selection. Then you can easily cut out the white parts. But if you have a white BG with light or bright portions of the stock sticking to the white or black/dark BG with dark portions of the stock sticking to the BG , the selection always overlaps some parts of the details of the stock and then it makes it difficult to cut out. So what you need to do is differentiate the interface of the stock what you want and the BG colors and to do to that you need to vary the lighting and contrast and brightness)
4)It doesnt matter how ugly or dark or unbalanced the duplicate layer looks like after you've done with the adjustment. Just make sure you can select the parts you want in a precise and accurate manner.
5)After this selection is made , make the duplicate layer invisible and cut out the selection from the original layer and discard the adjusted duplicate layer.

Its a more precise and accurate way of extraction than feather selection since it doesnt leave soft edges , though advanced users with better control with their pen tool woould like to use the pen cutter for this.

      Gojiita... you're a genius.

I can't believe I've never thought of that before.

      Double post!

Anyways... New piece. Still needs stuff, but I also like it where it is at the moment.

      Thanks

For the border bit, I actually went the way that I did for contrast, but flipping it the other way makes it look pretty sleek as well. Decisions, decisions

And for text, I'm not exactly sure yet. Depends on: A) If I can find an appropriate font, and B) If I can think of something good to write. Who knows, something may come to me, but I like the fact that it lacks text at the moment.

Re: Ririshii's GFX Stuffs [Revamped and Ready to Update]

If I may give you a tip on text, if you can't think of something to say, think of a line that sparks a certain feel or emotion you want to portray. If you've got a really flash and exciting signature, try something a hero from a movie or book might say like "I've got this" in a flash font or color.

Like for that one, a line I could see fitting if you wanted it to have text would be something a little courageous, maybe something such as "Courage in the face of danger"
