Fairy Tail Manga Discussion (Spoilers ahead)

A young celestial wizard, Lucy Heartfilia, runs away from home and travels to the land of Fiore to join the magical Fairy Tail Guild. Along the way, she meets Natsu Dragneel, a teenage boy looking for his foster parent, a dragon named Igneel, with his best friend, Happy the cat. Shortly after their meeting, Lucy is abducted by Bora of Prominence, who was posing as Salamander of Fairy Tail, to be sold as a slave. Natsu rescues her and reveals that he is the real Salamander of Fairy Tail and has the skills of a Dragon Slayer [fire type], an ancient magic. He offers her membership into the guild, which she gladly accepts. They, along with armored maiden Erza Scarlet, ice maker Gray Fullbuster, and Happy, become a team performing various missions offered to the Fairy Tail guild.


Latest chapters are 207-209. We had three new chapters released yesterday. I'm really excited about how things are turning out. I honestly did not expect that new character roaming the island to be Zeref. He really doesn't match the glimpses of Zeref we've been given so far. Zeref is supposed to be in hiding. So why appear now? And even more so, why is he acting like a suffering victim of his own power?

Just want to point out, this manga is awesome ^^

and as for the latest chapters I was in shock. Zeref of all people and why Natsu?

I have a theory that Zeref is trapped in that boy's body rather than being the physical body of himself.

Instead of trapped, I find it more accurate to say he's taken possesion of the boy's body. The boy seems aware of his destructive magic and it could be the living magic that Zeref mastered. What we have to know is if the boy's magic is one he's always had or one that he awakened inside of him. From how we've seen him react to his magic, he may not have always had it. Otherwise, he ought to be able to control ir or have gotten used to its power.

I'm wondering what connection he has to Natsu. Possible family member?

well it looks more like the Dragon Slayer magic is the only thing that can "break" him free.

hm... the thought of possession did occur to me but didn't that happen with Jellal/Gerard/however you want to look at it?

But Jellal never had actual contact with Zeref. Ultear was posing as Zeref and brainwashed him.

so how did he and the others get magic then? o.O

Maybe it was through Ultear. Zeref could very well have just used her as his medium between him and Jellal. Then again, I could be wrong and Zeref did took posession of Jellal's body. I really want Jellal to return. I got very upset when he was taken away.

I wonder if Zeref is connected to the disappearance of the dragons. I think this arc will begin to explore that in more depth.

Well in the anime it showed a glimpse that the dragons are still alive, Igneel is awesome, when talking to what I assume is another dragon he says something like "you dare to anger Igneel!?"

I wonder if Zeref is connected to the disappearance of the dragons. I think this arc will begin to explore that in more depth.

This arc seems like it's going to be really interesting. We haven't had a really good arc since the Tower of Paradise.

I'd say the business with Igneel's scarf makes it pretty likely.

EDIT:

I just noticed how big a part of the Grimoire Hearts GUiild is... Ultear, a person who sneakily managed to use the council, is in that Guild o.o I totally forgot that fact.

You're right. I didn't recognize her. But now I'm confused. Is she working with Zeref or was she using him as well? It doesn't look like Zeref is part of that guild.
