I know how that is, I think my fascination of Discworld from an early age is what stopped me from being able to get into LotR or Harry Potter. I think its common to attach to a certain world like that and once we have one then similar ones only really serve to provoke nostalgia and longing for the first.
I actually really like the setting of HP! I have personal reasons for dropping it so IDK.
I love the houses and certain characters, the interpretations of mythological beasts, traditional yet carrying Rowling's own slice of creative flair.
I guess Harry Potter himself is just the sort of protagonist I don't like reading about. I like underdogs and regular joes, I have trouble liking any character who is of great importance in their world even before their deeds. I'm not saying those characters are bad, in fact they're very popular and thus if they can be enjoyable for a large crowd that makes them a good thing. Just not my personal taste.
Hmmm I see. To be fair I feel like I could have fitted into any house except Gryffindor
I started reading the books but kinda lost interest... because reasons. I liked the setting, but the characters and plot not so much.
I like fantasy but I just prefer other series: Discworld, the Tower of Druaga, Slayers etc.
I wish I could cast magic though, a lot of fun to be had I think.
Which house? I was put in Slytherin but never graduated anyway.
You don't sound very sure of that. Where did you learn to cast magic?
I don't want them coming back as zombies or something. :X
No? Well the first couple of chapters are kinda dumb, the fact the heroine transforms herself into a bishoujo by starving herself for a week is not a healthy message so that irked me but its a series my sister likes so I figured I'd give it a whirl, also I like things that deal with the otaku culture because it intrigues me, such as Genshiken or "Don't Become an Otaku Shinosaki".
D'aww, sorry. Okay, let me put it another way, I think things will sort themselves out soon enough, one way or the other and I'll bounce back. I worry about people too so I wouldn't want to make you worry!
I wasn't trying to blow it off per say, I just don't want to drag you down with it. I'd rather talk about fun, happy things. Like the fact we won the Werewolf game. (yay! I feel bad because I pretty much sacrificed cub even though Timelord was my biggest suspect. ;n
I'm just feeling more and more worn out emotionally. I've got some time off work starting wednesday so hopefully I can refresh myself, but don't worry about me, I'll find a way to cope, just worried where things are headed.
As Anime/Manga goes I've picked up a few things lately. Started watching Konosuba season 2 which is a series I really enjoyed the first season of.
I've read a little bit of the series "My Girlfriend is a T-rex" which I started reading as a joke but as jokes go its not bad.
Otherwise been in a romance kick, reading the VN Clannad and the manga Kiss Him, Not Me.
