As the New Year is approaching we look back at the top moments from over the year. Thank you for all your nominations through forum posts and tweets.
10. AL Radio Show.
Where else can you listen to anime theme tunes, songs from your highlight have even included our very own @ferefire letting loose with some karaoke. It’s a great fun show and beats any of that Kiss 100 crap. If you haven’t tuned in, make it a new year’s resolution for 2013!
9. Crazy League
The forum section where you can discuss anything and everything! Chats have included cheese, confessions and hugs! Check it out and start your own crazy times.
8. Alcon’s Masquerade Ball
This seems to a favourite due to the transformation that occurs. Girls change from their short school girl uniforms, into a long flowing ball gown. Boys swap jeans for a suit and bowtie. The décor changes, live bands change to Studio Ghibli and Disney soundtracks. The venue no longer looks like a trendy student place, but something out of well…an anime series.
7. LAC makes waxing a talent
In LAC talent show the participants are usually singers and dancers. At LAC4 we had a new entry, one that had the crowd entranced, wincing and screaming. Two lovely ladies in cosplay, waxing two (willing?) young men live on stage. Watch out Simon Cowell, we saw them first!
7. Otaku Fashion Show
This is the chance when we get to see a variety of different fashions expressed on stage from Lolita to steampunk and who can forget LAC5 where the Spirit models made an appearance in latex…
6. Clan battles – LAC 4 clan leader goes flying
Each attendee selects a clan, for example at Alcon; vampires, pirates and ninjas. Then is then a massive (non-violent) showdown where clan leaders and attendees defend the clan and win points. At LAC4, attendees might remember when Organisation XIII leader got a little bit too excited and leapt off the stage. Thankfully no clan leaders were hurt in the making of this battle.
5. Yaoi/Yuri showdown
The event started with a Yuri snog on stage, our enthusiastic attendees then attempted a yaoi/yuri inspired exercise video and dancing. Barrels of laughs were heard. The only complaint was the lack of tentacles. Oh well there is always next year…
4. Baka no Gameshow
Here in the UK, the craziest gameshow you can apply for is deal or deal, but at LAC and Alcon we recreate the wacky and bizarre elements of the traditional Japanese gameshows. The brave and the foolish enter…but only the crazy survive! Tasks have included eating ‘dog food’, drinking our famous ‘mystery milkshake’ and other wacky tasks. People have drooled and even vomited on stage.
3. Guest Panels
This past year, we have had some great panels from the abridgers, and voice actors Kyle Herbert and Little Kuriboh and we have had lots more great ones to come next year – LAC6 we have the amazing Caitlin Glass!
2. Cosplay Masquerade
Cosplay is one of the main reasons people attend conventions. At our cosplay masquerade, attendees who have handmade their costumes showcase their creations we have often been left astounded by the heart and soul people have put into them!
1. Abridgers read 50 Shades of Grey
When Ben Q threatened to ruin Alcon, Little Kuriboh and Kyle Herbert took it into their hands and saved the day by reading extracts from the popular erotic novel 50 Shades of Grey in various anime characters from Gohan to Seto Keiba!
Missed out on these moments, we have lots of conventions next year make sure to attend so you can create your own. Register for the next London Anime Con 9th-10th February 2013
