Has the quality of roleplaying simmered down to nothing more than “seasoned roleplayers” telling others what they can and cannot do? I never thought that it would boil down to that, but apparently I was mistaken. Recently I stumbled across a thread in which that very thing was occurring. I thought roleplaying was supposed to be fun, not pain in the ass arguments about why such and such cannot happen. Did it ever occur to those “know it alls” that the only thing they are accomplishing is alienating the newer generations? I do not know how many of you AL’ers have been to other “roleplaying” sites, but for the longest time, AL had something that to me, made it stand out; a close knit roleplaying ‘family.’ Not only that… the majority of the roleplaying area typed like sensible individuals.

Many from other sites found their way here and those that began roleplaying, remained because of the attractiveness that AL showed them. Recently that attractiveness was bloodstained by several things. If you ask around, everyone has a different opinion as to why the roleplaying world seems to be dying. Some say it’s because of the rounds that have been occurring in the Multiverse. Others blame the Multiverse as a whole, while a few individuals believe it’s because of the MS/RR merge. Many others state that it is due to people diminishing their hopes and dreams when they post in a topic that happens to have a higher level character. Are any of the reasons true? Perhaps they are and then again… perhaps they are not.

Personally I do not believe the reason RR has slowed down is because of the MS/RR merge. I am actually excited to be able to participate in both of them once again and as time goes on, I believe that things will be better in that regard. I DO believe that part of the problem stems from what I stated before. When another roleplayer deems himself “god” and decides to tell others what to do, it kills their will to write. Stupidity is all it boils down too. I mean come on… how lame can the internet society get?

“You can go ahead and post here, but you’re character will die because so and so is a level 10 and you’re a mere level 7. Oh, and be sure not to step in and get in my way.”

Excuse me? Since when did simple levels dictate who can and cannot post in a topic? Sure, it’s harder for a lower level to destroy a higher one, but it can be done. It’s all about the writing style and the manner of strategy one uses. That’s why a lower level gets more EP when they defeat a higher level. It obviously can be done, or they wouldn’t have bothered putting that into the EP thread. Duh. If a character has IC justification for being where they are, don’t deny them the opportunity to kick ass and make their dreams come true. That’s another thing that is just a load of bullshit. Stop being douche bags and let’s return the world of roleplaying back to the enjoyable game it is supposed to be before more of the people that are seasoned roleplayers get fed up and leave. I beseech you.

Please don’t read the following list if you are easily offended by logic or bluntness. The following list is one that will stop millions of worthless topics and arguments from occurring all over AL again and again.

What you should know before posting:
- Most people don’t give a shit whether or not a woman wants to have children. Actually if you’re too worried about what .001% of the earth’s population thinks perhaps it would be better for you to not have any offspring. It would sure make everyone else happy.
- Sorry, you can’t go out with a cartoon character. This includes ‘anime’ characters as well. They are not real. They are also 2 dimensional and made of graphite and paint.
- Christianity is a reasonable religion in most cases.
- Christians are not reasonable people in most cases.
- General Discussion is full of a bunch of pricks who are often good at pretending to be nice. Don’t say I didn’t warn you when they attempt the heart theft move seen on the major motion picture, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.”
- 95% of the Adult Discussion members are younger then the 18 years of age that is recommended. It might be fun to try to emotionally scar them for life.
- Video Gaming is full of fanboyism. Be sure to realize there will be plenty of people there that own all of the Mario Party games, Halo 1 and 2, all of the FF games, or all 4 of the Gran Turismo games, not because any of them are good, but because they’re fanboys and they must buy everything their company makes.
- Rambling is to simplistic spam for non-RPers, as CityScape is to simplistic spam for RPers.
- People are different.
- Forums are not real. The Internet is not real life. You’ll probably not meet most people in real life that you meet here.

With this advice I do hope that you’ll realize we’re all jerks. Don’t waste your time being whiny about it. If you’re going to get mad at someone perhaps it would be better for you to step away from AL for a moment and realize this: It doesn’t matter. We’re all here to have fun and if one person isn’t having fun, none of us are having fun.
