Every issue the member focus section looks at a few members of AL that are of interest. We may look on a veteran, newcomer, normal member, staff member, or clan leader.
Veteran Focus: Paladin101
Submitted by AVARON.
This issue we focus on Paladin101; a superb roleplayer, moderator, and some say a strict but one of the best RR trainer’s, with strong faith in his religion which he defends with all his might. This does not close the mind of this dear veteran though. He is seen as one of the more honorable members of AL who can have a good debate without completely getting out of line.
He joined the beloved AL community in April of 2003 and plans to stick around for as long as the site lives. He discovered AL as many did, when AnimeYak was a month prior to its permanent shut down. If you can imagine, Paladin squealed with delight, “oooh, its bluee!!” and has stuck around since. He is no longer staying for just the look of AL but as he says, “because GD has interesting debates, RR has superb roleplayers, the people here are very fun, it’s a close knit community, a good source of stress relief [and I enjoy] meeting interesting people.”
He holds and currently holds many positions here on AL. He has been a mod of RR, a mod of Momentum Training, and was once the head of the original RR training section when it first came into play. He also ran the Mystical Wanderers for awhile. The Mystical Wanderers was a clan based on roleplay, which won of the AL competitions that went on between clans back before Clan Nation. He is currently the HGM leader and a RR mod of Other RPG’s and Sparring.
When asked what he missed most back in the day he replied, “I miss old school clans. They were part of the community rather than a community all their own. I think it helped pull the communities together;” The words of a wise and thoughtful veteran who thinks a lot of his community. He was proud to say that two of his best moments were when he was nominated for most honorable and when he was offered modship in RR. He said, “[the nomination] made me feel very pleased and honored that people noticed my personality that much” and “I had wanted [the modship] since I got here and saw the place.”
Our veteran of the month, Paladin101, lover of roleplay, debates, and the idea of the AL awards trying to contribute to the self esteem and the quality of AL, even though it may be becoming more of popularity based award, “than folks looking for who deserves the awards.” Last but not least, lover of AL, Paladin101, here to the end?
An interview with Yusagi.
Submitted by j/k.
I will be doing regular interviews with members of AL that I see fit for the AL paper. These are members that I see around the forums alot doing something to help AL. This month's is with Yusagi.
Nigredo: How long have you been on AL?
Yusagi: Hmmm...I believe I found out back during the AL history experience that it's been about a year and a half. Feels like longer, though.
Nigredo: What do you do here on AL?
Yusagi: Well, I am a moderator of Welcomes and Goodbyes, I am leader of the MV group Redeemers, I have recently become a HGM, and I do hope to keep that position, even though I have been having difficulties since I got it. I am also founder and head of the Newbie Adoption Agency located in Welcomes and goodbyes.
Nigredo: What's your favorite section?
Yusagi: Hah...This is where I'm supposed to plug mine, but I think it's actually RR, because it's so flexible.
Nigredo: What's the best and the worst about AL?
Yusagi: More hard questions. How shall I answer these without offending people...? Okay, My favorate part is how BIG it is! That's quite fun, but I hate how it loves to crash after I make a gigantic post. Really, I must strangle something after I lose 2 hours of work.
Nigredo: Who's your favorite member?
Yusagi: Erm. I think I'll have to say Robin/Puppy/whatever he decides for the week. I've known him the longest, even though he is rarely on anymore.
Nigredo: IRL questions (you don't need to answer these questions if you don't want to)
Nigredo What's your true name?
Yusagi: Ah-hah. Yusagi Sombermoon, of course!
Nigredo: How old are you?
Yusagi: 16
Nigredo: What are some of your hobbies?
Yusagi: Writing and drawing. Also about any form of RPGing.
Nigredo: Do you have a job? If so, what do you do?
Yusagi: Technically I'm a freelance authoress, although I haven't managed a paying gig yet.
Nigredo: What are your goals for the future?
Yusagi: Basically? To get published and filthy rich. icon_razz.gif Any school girl's dream.
